Due to the distinct differences among African immigrants and African Americans we use different methods and tactics to provide outreach and education to African immigrants.A serious challenge for African-born immigrant and refugee newcomers to America is the fact that smoking is normalized in their home countries and aggressively marketed by an industry that has billions of dollars at its disposal. These factors alone pose challenges not only for the African-born newcomers who are brought face to face with a culture and society in their new homeland that is at a far different capacity and advantage of addressing the worldwide tobacco epidemic, but for American social service agencies and prevention programs to address in an effective and culturally-appropriate manner.
Saving Black Lives is committed to forming partnerships with organizations and local groups to provide capacity building training, access to health materials, and/or provide educational outreach. Our goal is to save ALL black lives from the traps of tobacco. Email your group information to firstname.lastname@example.org
