Miko Reed Collins is a native Washingtonian, who has been writing poetry and composing spoken word pieces for over 20 years. She is a new author and Amazon bestseller. She completed her first book, "Eggshells In Soft Black Hands- Poetry and Personal Essays," in August 2021. Miko is currently working on an anthology of stories from a black woman's perspective, along with her memoir, to be written in poetry and prose.


Miko's experiences as a nurse influenced her rendition of "You Don't Want That Smoke, " having spent spent two years in a cancer ward. The subject of this piece is of a real patient named Virginia who told her story during the months that Miko cared for her.
