Are you an artist with a passion for change? Do you believe in the power of art to inspire, educate, and transform communities? If so, you're in the right place. The AATCLC Mini Grant Program is your opportunity to make a difference and be part of a movement to combat the deceptive tactics employed by Big Tobacco.

About the Program: 
The Poet Life and the African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council (AATCLC) believe that artists have a unique ability to shine a light on critical social issues. Big Tobacco's targeted marketing in minority and disadvantaged communities is one such issue, and we're here to challenge it. Our Mini Grant Program empowers artists of all disciplines to use their creative talents to fight back. 

 

What We Offer:

Who Can Apply:
We welcome artists from all backgrounds and art forms. Whether you're a poet, musician, visual artist, performer, filmmaker, or any other type of artist, your creativity has the power to make a difference. If you're passionate about fighting Big Tobacco's deceptive practices, we want to hear from you.

How to Apply:

  1. Review the Guidelines: Before applying, please review our guidelines and eligibility criteria.

  2. Prepare Your Proposal: Create a project proposal that outlines your artistic vision, goals, timeline and budget.

  3. Submit Your Application: Complete the online application form and upload your proposal.

  4. Selection Process: The Poet Life, in partnership with AATCLC, will review applications based on artistic merit and alignment with our mission.

  5. Grant Disbursement: If selected, you'll receive your grant to bring your project to life.

  6. Project Execution: Create, inspire, and make a difference.

  7. Documentation: Share your project documentation with us for promotional and evaluation purposes.

  8. Impact: Be part of a powerful movement that raises awareness and drives change.

Guidelines for The Poet Life
Mini Grant Program

About the Program: 
The Poet Life and the African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council (AATCLC) believe that artists have a unique ability to shine a light on critical social issues. Big Tobacco's targeted marketing in minority and disadvantaged communities is one such issue, and we're here to challenge it. Our Mini Grant Program empowers artists of all disciplines to use their creative talents to fight back. 

Eligibility:

  • Artists of All Disciplines: The program is open to artists of all disciplines, including but not limited to poets, musicians, visual artists, performers, and filmmakers.

  • Commitment to the Theme: Applicants must be committed to addressing the issue of Big Tobacco's targeted marketing, the negative health effects of tobacco use, or the importance of tobacco control policies through their artistic projects.

  • Age and Residency: Applicants must be at least 18 years old and residents of the United States.

Application Process:

Project Proposal:  Each applicant is required to submit a detailed project proposal that includes the following:

  • A description of the artistic project, its objectives, and its relevance to the program's theme.

  • A clear outline of the project's timeline, including milestones and deadlines.

  • A budget breakdown, specifying how the grant funds will be utilized.

  • A brief explanation of how the project will be presented or exhibited to the public.

Application Deadline: 

All applications must be submitted by Friday, November 3, 2024. Late submissions will not be considered.

Grant Disbursement: 

Grant Amount: Successful applicants will receive a grant of $500 to fund their projects.

Project Execution: 

  • Timeline: Grant recipients are expected to complete their projects within 90 days from the project initiation  date.

  • Collaboration: Grant recipients are encouraged to collaborate with The Poet Life and the African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council (AATCLC) for guidance and support throughout the project.

Documentation and Reporting: 

Project Documentation: Grant recipients are required to provide project documentation, which may include photographs, videos, written descriptions, or any other relevant materials. This documentation will be used for promotional purposes and to showcase the program's impact.

  • Progress Updates: Grant recipients must provide regular progress updates to AATCLC to ensure the successful execution of the project.

Promotion and Evaluation: 

Promotion: Grant recipients are expected to actively promote their projects through exhibitions,

performances, screenings, or other suitable platforms. The Poet Life and AATCLC will also collaborate on
promotional efforts.

  • Impact Assessment: The program's impact will be evaluated based on qualitative feedback from grant
    recipients, public engagement, and media coverage. A comprehensive report will be compiled to
    summarize the achievements, challenges, and lessons learned from the program.

Compliance: 

Legal and Ethical Considerations: Projects funded by AATCLC Mini Grant Program must adhere to all
applicable laws and ethical guidelines. Projects promoting hate speech, discrimination, or any form of harm
will not be accepted.

By applying for AATCLC Mini Grant Program, applicants agree to comply with these guidelines. Failure to
adhere to these guidelines may result in the revocation of the grant.
